Stand-up comedian and television host Rickey Smiley went to Instagram on January 21 with a piece of devastating news.
‘The Rickey Smiley Show‘ host announced that his beloved grandfather passed away at the age of 100. Sharing a photograph of his grandfather, Smiley wrote the following message in the caption section:
“My heart is broke this morning!! My adopted Grandfather/dinner buddy Mr Grimes (100) has gone to be with God.”
The TV personality then added it is impossible for him to forget the memories he had shared with his grandfather, especially the dinner nights they had together in a restaurant or his kitchen while enjoying jazz. Smiley continued his tribute as follows:
“Been knowing you since 87!!! I came to see you day before yesterday and when I said my name you opened your eyes and lifted your head lol!”
Thanking the Grimes family for sharing him, the comedian stated that he absolutely enjoyed him. He concluded his words by depicting the feelings he is now in:
“Heartbroken but rejoicing at the same time, rest well sir🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽”
As soon as he had shared the post, his industry friends, and fans & followers flooded the comment section to send their condolences to him.
As fans might remember, back in July, he had announced another devastating news regarding his family members; he declared during his morning show that his 19-year-old daughter, Aaryn was shot three times and she had nerve damage.
