Three days before turning, Taylor Swift announced a brand new album, titled ‘Evermore‘ and a music video for ‘willow,’ the lead track of her ninth studio album.
To deliver the exciting news, Swift took her verified Instagram account, shared several photos with notes respectively. The ‘Folklore‘ hitmaker first unveiled her surprise album and then announced that the music video would hit the music & video platforms on December 11.
Alongside a photo that shows the tracklist of the album, which was released through Republic Records on December 11, 2020, four months after her eighth studio album, ‘Folklore,’ the singer wrote regarding her surprise release:
“Ever since I was 13, I’ve been excited about turning 31 because it’s my lucky number backward, which is why I wanted to surprise you with this now. You’ve all been so caring, supportive and thoughtful on my birthdays and so this time I thought I would give you something!”
According to what she announced through social media channels, the album, consisting of 15 new tracks plus a “digital booklet with 16 brand new photos“, has also two bonus tracks, ‘right where you left me,’ and ‘it’s time to go,’ in its deluxe physical edition.
In another post, the singer continued to surprise fans and followers; she heralded the music video by posting a photo of herself wearing a vintage lace dress, from the original video, she had directed. Along with the photo, Swift wrote as a caption:
“Tonight the story continues, as the music video for “willow” drops at midnight eastern. I’m forever grateful to the following creatives who have helped and guided me to be able to direct my own videos.”
