‘Watermelon Sugar’ hitmaker Harry Styles says revenge is a dish best eaten cold.
After conservative author and commentator Candace Owens had attacked the singer for wearing kind of dresses on Vogue’s December issue by saying that “Bring back manly men,” Styles took to his verified Instagram account and posted a photo of himself eating a banana while wearing a specially designed blue suit. The ‘One Direction’ alum captioned the photo taken by Parker Woods as follows and slammed Owens:
“Bring back manly men.”
Following the post, a good number of Instagram users, some of them are well-known names, showed their support for him. While they sided with him by saying that he should not hear Candace’s words, the famous fashion designer Derek Blasberg wrote as a comment:
“A real man will eat a banana and make direct eye contact with you.”
Let’s remember, Owens, who previously criticized Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, wrote on November 14, following Vogue’s cover had been released, through Twitter that “feminization” of the men is not proper for any society which needs men’s power, and described Styles’ look is an “outright attack.” Instead of getting support, Owens was highly criticized by numerous people, including stars, for her sexist attitude.
However, the author took to Twitter one more time after Styles’ above-mentioned Instagram post. She first criticized that the women who “objectify themselves by spreading their legs for the world” are being described as courageous, and then directly addressed Styles without naming:
“Men in ballgowns & little girl’s clothing are lauded as icons. Hollywood is no longer about diversity, it’s about perversity. I speak for people who do not worship perversity.”
It seems that Owens will face backlash again from the singer’s fellows.
