Chance the Rapper is going on taking a role in the social campaigns to help small-sized enterprises during the coronavirus pandemic.
On November 28, the rapper, who recently released a musical collaboration with Justin Bieber, took to his verified Instagram account and shared a picture of himself that sees him wearing a Santa Claus cap while standing in front of a table with many products on it.
Then the rapper, born Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, announced that he is supporting small businesses by purchasing “handmade items, products from black founders, women-led companies, military families, and a whole lotta stuff made in Chicago” through Amazon. After that, Bennet urged people to do the same thing and to help the small businesses to handle these painful times in which the whole economy is going down.
“Let’s show entrepreneurs some love and shop this holiday season.”
However, he could not receive the feedback he had expected to get following the post. A good number of Instagram users expressed that although his intention is okay, collaborating with Amazon for the small businesses just helping the e-commerce website.
Even though it is not widely known, Bennet is a highly ambitious activist. In addition to being a member of the Chicago collective ‘Savemoney,’ he is a part of the Chicago community. He prompted the ‘#SaveChicago‘ campaign against gun violence, created a nonprofit organization ‘SocialWorks‘ and donated $1,000,000 to Chicago Public Schools.
