Shortly after Miley Cyrus had dropped her seventh studio album ‘Plastic Hearts,’ Cyrus’ fans flooded social media to say that multiple songs in the album are about her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth. The fans claimed ‘WTF Do I Know?,’ ‘Angels Like You,’ ‘Never Be Me,’ and ‘Hate Me‘ are directly referring to Hemsworth and their relationship ended in 2019.

It seems that the fans are not wrong at all. The song, ‘WTF Do I Know?‘ tells a broken marriage story, which is similar to that Cyrus and Hemsworth had experienced in past years. As known, on December 23, the couple married n a private wedding ceremony, however, after a year, they announced their separation. A few days after the announcement, Hemsworth filed for divorce on the grounds of “irreconcilable differences.” The lyrics of the song as follows:

“Maybe getting married just to cause a distraction. / Here to tell you something that you don’t know / Am I wrong that I moved on and I / And I don’t even miss you? / You want an apology? / Not from me / Had to leave you in your own misery.”

The other song ‘Angels Like You‘ is also about a wedding and being unhappy; in her song, Cyrus narrates the story of a free spirit woman who could not find the right person. Here are the lyrics that fans are sure it was written for Hemsworth:

“I know that you’re wrong for me / Gonna wish we never met on the day I leave /  I brought you down to your knees / ‘Cause they say that misery loves company.”

Similarly, in ‘Never Be Me,‘ the ‘Prisoner’ singer referred to a young woman, who can not be tamed. As known, in a recent interview, Cyrus implied that the divorce came after her substance and alcohol addiction problems that she could not cope with even though she had tried multiple times. The song includes the following lyrics:

“If you’re looking for stable that’ll never be me / If you’re looking for faithful that’ll never be me. / If you’re looking for someone to be all that you need. / That’ll never be me (Hard as I try).”

Also ‘Hate Me‘ made people think that the song is a direct message to the actor. The song, which is about a break-up, has been interpreted as a “personal soft ballad.” Here are the lyrics:

“I wonder what would happen if I die / I hope all of my friends get drunk and high / Would it be too hard to say goodbye? / I hope that it’s enough to make you cry. / Maybe that day you won’t hate me. / Go ahead, you can say that I’ve changed. / Just say it to my face.”
