John Legend and Carrie Underwood are joining the Christmas festival with their new duet ‘Hallelujah‘ and a music video to accompany it.
Almost a week ago, Carrie Underwood teased about the song by saying that she has been working on a little holiday surprise. A short after, the singer announced that she and Legend teamed up for the track from her very first Christmas album ‘My Gift,‘ produced by Greg Wells and consisting of eleven songs in total.
Underwood said on Instagram that the song and its message are highly needed when considering the current situation that the world in. After a challenging year like 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the singer added that she hopes the song gives joy to people. It includes the following lyrics full of hope:
“Ooh, let thеre be peace on earth / Let the lonely join together, let them know their worth / Ooh, let the children know / There’s a brighter day ahead, let’s hold on to hope / And on the coldest evening in this December / Let us pray the spirit of love will linger.”
What’s more, Underwood’s Christmas album reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart in a highly short time after its release. Regarding that achievement, the singer said during an interview with Billboard:
“Who would have known what would happen in the world since then, and how much we would all be ready for the hope and joy that Christmas music embodies this year more than ever.”
The duo released the music video on November 20; it premiered exclusively on Facebook. In the video, Legend appears playing the piano, while Underwood singing beside him, with snow falling all around.
