Singer & songwriter John Legend, who is also known as an advocate for social justice, declared that he would appear as a host for Global Citizen Prize night, in which the activists, philanthropists and artists, who fight for an equal future, will be honored.
Legend, who frequently becomes a media subject for his marriage with Chrissy Teigen and his family life, took to Instagram the other day and shared a still which reads “Celebrating the people standing up for the world we want.” Alongside the photo, he posted a message that includes the announcement regarding his hosting. He wrote:
“With @glblctzn, we will honor the young activists, world leaders, and Global Citizens taking action to build a better, more equal world.”
In the ceremony, which will take place on December 19, people who impact the world positively will be presented the awards including Cisco Youth Leadership Award, Global Citizen Prize for World Leader, Global Citizen of the Year, Global Citizen Prize for Business Leader, Global Citizen Artist of the Year and Country Hero Award.
In a statement on the official website of Global Citizen, Legend said:
“2020 has challenged all of us in many ways, and I’m proud to be celebrating leaders who are supporting vulnerable communities, working to end extreme poverty, and inspiring others to take action for change.”
Last year, well-known singer Sting and the ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ director Richard Curtis received the award, alongside Priya Prakash and Amina J. Mohammed. This year’s show will be broadcast and streamed at 8 p.m. ET on NBC in the United States, and CTV in Canada.
