Amid the countless speculations regarding her split from Max Ehrich, Demi Lovato went to Instagram for another case. Lovato, who also known as an ambitious LGBT rights activist, called out the people to end normalized rape culture with a post she shared on Transgender Awareness Week.
The singer, who works for the international charity organization Free the Children, posted a pair of photos that honor the week and wrote that even though she is not a survivor of child abuse, she knows so many people, who have lived through that violence because approximately 20% of Americans are survivors. Then Lovato addressed her followers:
“And if you’re a transgender or gender non-conforming child, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics, you’re more at risk of being targeted.”
Lovato, as marked as an LGBT icon, later mentioned a non-profit organization, Mirror Memoirs, which has been established to uplift LGBTQI+ people of color who experienced child abuse, and she encouraged people to support the organization to heal the community.
“And they welcome the involvement of ANYONE who wants to live in a world without abuse.”
Following the post, the ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ singer, who has performed during Pride events several times, received highly positive comments due to her sensitive act.
“I love this! Thank you for this 🙏🏼 I’m a survivor. Sending love, strength and prayers to all my fellow LGBTQ+ survivors 💖” wrote, an Instagram user.
“Thank you for talking about this and telling your story ❤️❤️❤️ respect for you always and WE ARE LISTENING” added, another user.
