Brit Award-winning singer Dua Lipa got candid during an interview with Attitude about being mocked for her dance moves and told of how she coped with bullying on the internet.

As can be remembered, the 25-year-old star has been criticized by many internet users for years and has become the subject of online trolling and bullying because of her stage presence. All of those started when a few dance videos that belong to her earlier on in the career were released; then countless mean-spirited memes and negative comments regarding that she has no stage presence, spread through the net.

In the interview, the ‘Don’t Start Now’ singer addressed the bullying she encountered throughout her career and said that her negative experience gave her anxiety and made her upset, so much so that, she felt like she was not enough to be a star.

“[It]made me feel like, maybe I’m not meant to be here and on the stage

Those comments impacted her so much that she started struggling with mental issues. Especially on stage, she felt insecure in case she realized someone filming her.

“You know, I’d go on stage and if somebody was filming me, in my head, I wasn’t, like, ‘Oh, they’re filming me because they want to keep it.’ I was like, ‘They’re going to film it so they can laugh at me or something.'”

According to what she stated during the interview, even after she had grabbed Grammys for her musical performance, people continued saying she did not deserve getting awards. At this point, she raised her voice and said that the people, telling that she is terrible at the stage, have not seen her perform, so they have not the right to comment. She added regarding this kind of people:

“They would take one small snippet and run with it and it would become a whole thing.”

Despite all of these, she expressed that she is now so grateful for the things that happened to her; because they made her so much more confident.

“Now I know what I’m good at. I know how to be good at what I do; I know how much work it takes to be good at what I do.”
