Model and media personality Emily Ratajkowski announced her pregnancy with the first child in a Vogue essay on gender, identity, and motherhood the other day. The essay penned by Ratajkowski was accompanied by a video clip directed by ‘Girls‘ creator Lena Dunham.
Ratajkowski also announced about Vogue’s article, through her verified Instagram account. The model uploaded the latest digital cover of the magazine that she appears cradling her baby bump. She wrote alongside the cover :
“Grateful & growing 👼 Thank you @voguemagazine for this very special cover.”
Then Ratajkowski, who recently stated that her first book of essays entitled ‘My Boby’ was set to publish through Henry Holt Books, posted the aforementioned short video with the following caption:
“’Who will this person be? What kind of person will we become parents to? How will they change our lives and who we are?’ Read my essay on pregnancy and gender on @voguemagazine 🤍 thank you for all the well wishes 🤍 @cassblackbird @jordenbickham”
In the cover story, the ‘Welcome Home‘ star, expecting her first baby with husband Sebastian Bear-McClard, revealed that she did not want to know the gender until the baby was 18.
“There is a truth to our line, though, one that hints at possibilities that are much more complex than whatever genitalia our child might be born with: the truth that we ultimately have no idea who—rather than what—is growing inside my belly. “
Then she said she liked the idea of forcing as few gender stereotypes on her child as possible.
“But no matter how progressive I may hope to be, I understand the desire to know the gender of our fetus; it feels like the first real opportunity to glimpse who they might be.”
Ratajkowski also expressed that instead of feeling afraid of having a child, she felt a new sense of peace, and she started learning from the “person” inside her body.
