Canadian star Justin Bieber, who recently appeared in the music video for ‘POPSTAR,’ dropped a new song titled ‘Lonely’ alongside a music video collaborated with producer Benny Blanco.
In the music video 14-year-old, Jacob Tremblay appears as a young Bieber with the side-swept hair and iconic purple hoodie, and he portrays the singer struggling with the isolation and loneliness that derives from childhood fame.
The song, whose clip has already reached over 8 million views on YouTube, includes the lyrics:
“Everybody knows my name now / But somethin’ ’bout it still feels strange / Like lookin’ in a mirror, tryna steady yourself / And seein’ somebody else / And everything is not the same now / It feels like all our lives have changed / Maybe when I’m older, it’ll all calm down / But it’s killin’ me now”
Also, the following statement offered on the video’s caption on YouTube:
“If you’re feeling Lonely or know someone who is struggling, you can find resources and more at ActiveMinds.org/Lonely.”
The ‘Never Say Never’ star took to Instagram in order to announce that ‘Lonely’ was out:
“Lonely is out now with @itsbennyblanco. When he and @finneas showed me this song, to be honest, it was hard to listen to considering how tough it was to get through some of these chapters. I went into the studio and sang through it which wasn’t easy but started to really see the importance of telling this story!”
Then Bieber wrote that it made him realize all the people felt lonely at times, and being someone in his position was powerful to express vulnerability; so, the song was powerful.
In another Instagram post, the singer praised young actor Tremblay, whom he previously described as very talented:
“Jacob thank you for being such a huge part of this story! You brought the story to life and there couldn’t be anyone cooler to do it!! Thanks, bro”
