The first woman to win an Academy, Grammy, BAFTA, and Golden Globe Award in one year, Lady Gaga released the short film for her song ‘911’ on September 18 and opened up about the inspiration of the video.
The ‘Rain on Me’ singer took to her verified Instagram account, uploaded a part from the said video, and wrote that the short film was very personal to her, and added:
“My experience with mental health and the way reality and dreams can interconnect to form heroes within us and all around us.”
The 34-year-old star thanked all those who contributed to creating the music video seemingly set in White Sands National Park in New Mexico, by writing:
“I’d like to thank my director/filmmaker Tarsem for sharing a 25-year-old idea he had with me because my life story spoke so much to him. I’d like to thank Haus of Gaga for being strong for me when I wasn’t, and the crew for making this short film safely during this pandemic without anyone getting sick.”
She also stated that it’s been years since she felt so alive in her creativity.
“I’m awake now, I can see you, I can feel you, thank you for believing in me when I was very afraid. Something that was once my real-life every day is now a film, a true story that is now the past and not the present. It’s the poetry of pain.”
After the short film was released, one twitter user claimed that ‘911’ got video references from the film ‘The Color of Pomegranates’ by sharing screen grabs of both the music video and film.
