Beyoncé Donates $1 Million To Black-Owned Businesses On Her Own Birthday

One of the world’s best-selling music artists Beyoncé donated $1 million to Black-owned businesses in honor of her 39th birthday, on September 4.

Queen B, remarked as one of the valuable figures contributing to Black Culture, made her major donation through her charity initiative BeyGOOD, and partnership with the NAACP. Following the said organizations contributed $10 million in July, the ‘Black King’ star put another $1 million towards Black-owned small businesses across the U.S. that have been impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.

BeyGOOD, created by the singer in 2013, issued a statement through its official Instagram account, and announced the donation by sharing an image that reads:

“PROUD TO ANNOUNCE $1M IN ADDITIONAL FUNDS FROM BEYONCÉ TO HELP BLACK-OWNED SMALL BUSINESSES, ROUND TWO OF FUNDING OPENS THIS MONTH WITH OUR PARTNER, NAACP.”

Beyoncé, the vocal advocate for the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement said in a statement regarding communities of color:

“Communities of color are suffering by epic proportions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Many families live in underserved areas in homes that make it harder to practice social distancing. Communities that were already lacking funds for education, health and housing are now faced with alarming infection and fatalities. And these communities lack access to testing and equitable healthcare.”
