The best-selling Canadian recording artist Celine Dion told of her emotional struggle on her passing husband during an appearance on a new Apple Music clip, which contains the behind scenes of the 2019 album ‘Courage.’
As known, Dion tragically lost her better half, René Angélil in January 2016. The manager and husband of the singer passed away from throat cancer, two days before his 74th birthday.
Dion, losing her 22-year partner, said that she had been going through tough times, and became a single mother to their 3 children. She added:
“The loss of René, realizing that I was going to be a single mom. Him and I are were one person, we were one. So when he passed away, I kind of felt for a moment that there was just one half of me. Am I just not going to go on anymore? Or am I going to say, ‘I’m a warrior, I’m a mother, I have the strength and I’m going to show them that I can do this.”
Dion stated that as a couple, they had lived as “one” and her husband’s passing made her felt like “just one half” of herself. In order to cope with the loss, she made new decisions:
“I’ve decided to rebuild my second half.”
Then the ‘My Heart Will Go On’ hitmaker turned to present and even though she lost husband, brother, and mother in a short period of time, expressed that she recovered emotionally:
“I feel good these days. It’s no secret that I’ve gone through some tough times, obviously losing my husband and my brother a few years ago, and my mother very recently. Life presents challenges to us and we try to find ways to move on.”
According to what Celine Dion said, music helped her to save herself, and it was the most forceful motivation source to move on:
“Music can be a healing force, and the songs on my new album have helped me find new strength in my life… and perhaps a bit more independence because I’m the head of the household now.”
