Taylor Swift‘s surprise album broke several chart records in its first week.
According to the announcement of Billboard, with her recently-released album ‘Folklore,’ Taylor Swift became the female singer with the highest number of entries throughout the history of the lists.
The news has been released through Twitter, by Billboard Charts Offical Account:
“@taylorswift13’s ‘Cardigan’ officially debuts at No. 1 on this week’s #Hot100 chart.
This is the first time in history that an artist has debuted at No. 1 on both the #Hot100 and #Billboard200 in the same week.”
A shortly after, the following Tweet also was sent:
“‘Cardigan’ is the 41st song in history to debut at No. 1 on the #Hot100.
@taylorswift13 also debuted at No. 1 with ‘Shake It Off’ in 2014.”
On Spotify, the album achieved 80.6m streams in a single day, and it became the best-selling album of the year with 846,000 sold copies in the United States.
The ‘Cardigan’ singer also became the first artist in the United States chart to have 7 albums.
Apart from the US charts, Taylor’s album debuted the no 1 in the UK, Finland, Australia, Norway, New Zealand, and Belgium.
