Travis Scott Breaks Records With In-Game, ‘Fortnite Battle Royale’ Concert

In April, the 28-year-old rapper, Travis Scott performed an in-game concert and launched his long-awaited work ‘Astronomical.’ The producers described the event as “other-worldly experience” and pointed out that it was a creation of Travis Scott and Cactus Jack’s, for ‘Fortnite.’

Scott streamed from home through his gaming console and carried out a visual performance of his new single in the ‘Fortnite Battle Royale’ game; during the event, his pre-taped performance as an avatar was displayed.

The avatar Scott, in a flaming amusement park, sang ‘Goosebumps’ and ‘Highest in the Room,’ within the performance, that lasted almost 10 minutes. This unique event drew more than 45 million views.

Regarding this unique event, Billboard made a cover story and a specially-designed web page, and Scott said of his performance, during the magazine interview:

“Whether it was the gaming community or people that don’t even play games, there was definitely a sense of, ‘People around the world right now are locked in and focused.’ I watched it, and I raged out till I passed out.”

Then he stated that he has been having these ideas since 2015, and added:

“I’m just now being able to get it going.”

Even though the ‘Sicko Mode’ rapper claimed that virtual performances will not be like live shows, he said:

“I’d do it again for sure. That was just level one.”
