American pop-rock and funk-pop band, Maroon 5 announced their new single ‘Nobody’s Love’ is out. Along with the song, they also released a new music video, directed by David Dobkin, and created by keeping social distancing.
The group sent a message, written by lead vocalist Adam Levine, to the official Instagram account to share the news with followers:
“The entire process of perfecting this song was done with the whole world in mind. I’m hoping that nobody’s love is a song that can give everyone a moment of peace and reflection during this unprecedented moment in our world’s story. Whether you are an essential worker on the front lines, an outspoken citizen fighting for social justice, or just someone who needs a break to remember the potent power of love, this song is for everyone. We hope you love it!”
It seems that spreading love is not the only mission of the song, so much so that, at the end of the music video, there is a quote from the ACLU (The American Civil Liberties Union) about the criminalization of harmful substances. The quote is as follows:
“It’s time to end the War on Marij**na. The aggressive enforcement of possession laws needlessly ensnares hundreds of thousands of people into the criminal justice system and wastes billions of taxpayers’ dollars.”
And it continues with its harmful consequences:
“What’s more, it is carried out with staggering racial bias. Despite being a priority for police departments, the War has failed to reduce the use and availability and diverted resources that could be better invested in our communities.”
Following the statement, the band said they would donate to the ACLU of Southern California, and added a link to provide fans donate too.
