The publicist Simon Jones announced that One Direction, the English-Irish pop boy band, is going to celebrate the 10th anniversary of becoming a band, with new content.
Simon shared a post through Twitter, which read:
“There will be a brand new 1D anniversary website, a 10-year celebration video specially made for their fans, and interactive playlists and activations across digital platforms.”
Via his own website, Simon declared that the ‘10 Years of One Direction’ website, which is being created as a timeline charting the history of the group, is going to launch on July 23. He added:
“It will host an archive of music videos, artwork, TV performances, behind-the-scenes and rarely-seen content, all in one place. (…) Fans will also be able to generate their own shareable ‘mixtape’ playlist on the site.”
Apart from them, according to Simon, the fans will able to listen to the new interactive playlists, rare songs, remixes, live recordings, and acoustic versions of tracks, through digital platforms.
He also announced the anniversary celebration YouTube video is also being released on July 23.
As might be remembered, the boy band, which are composed of current members Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and former member Zayn Malik, had started off in 2010, through singing competition ‘The X Factor’. However, Zayn Malik departed from 1D in 2015, and each member of the group went on his career as a solo.
