One of the best-selling music artists with more than 300 million records, Elton John took Instagram on June 24 and uploaded a video of his interview with media personality Jonathan Van Ness about HIV-positive.
The ‘Rocket Man’ singer, who received numerous music awards, including Grammy Award, Brit Award, Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, Tony Award, Disney Legends Award, wrote as a caption:
“I had the pleasure of speaking with @jvn about what compelled him to come out as HIV-positive & how stigma can prevent people who are living with HIV from accessing the testing and treatment that they need.”
John, who has been fighting against AIDS since the 1980s, added:
“Every day I am so inspired and grateful to everyone who continues to fight this disease. We must not forget how far we have come, and it is crucial that we keep up the momentum by advocating, showing up, and speaking out.”
At the end of the caption, the 73-year-old singer and composer mentioned ‘Elton John AIDS Foundation‘ and gave a forceful message:
“Through my Foundation, @EJAF, we promise to be there for those who need us most and we will not stop. Together, we can end the AIDS epidemic. #LoveIsTheCure 🚀”
