American rapper 6ix9ine, also known as Tekashi69, took to his verified Instagram accounts the other day, after almost 6 months-long silence. The rapper, who always garners media attention with the legal issues he is struggling with, clarified with a post why he preferred to stay away from music and social media.

6ix9ine, born Daniel Hernandez, posted a series of photos of himself that shows his body evolution and stated that he was following a strict plan to lose some weight for the past 6 months. Stating that weighed 204 pounds back in September was the starting point for him, Hernandez wrote:

“The real reason I LEFT Instagram and MUSIC for 6 months is because in September I was the biggest I ever got… I weighed 204 pounds and I was kinda going through a lot in life and I was just constantly eating and eating…

According to the message he penned, he told himself to put the music to the side and focused on his own body. After months, he lost 60 pounds. The rapper described this period of time as a needed break; in his own words:

“IN LIFE everyone needs a break, in the chaos of everything that is going on in your life, tell yourself I control what happens in my life do NOT let anyone tell you that things you want it’s not possible, that’s FALSE!”

The rapper concluded his sort of “inspiring” message by saying that he forever will be “the king of New York.” Following his post, well-known model Jay Alvarrez jumped into the comments section and wrote the following message as a comment:

“69 the biggest inspiration of the decade 🙌”
